The Upper Perk Prayer Evangelism Network began in 2003 when three area churches began to meet together monthly to pray for the Valley.  The three churches were Perkiomenville Mennonite Church, Community Bible Fellowship Church, and Hope Valley Community Church.

Their common purpose for gathering together was a passion for intercessory prayer and evangelism.  Their prayers centered around asking God to bring revival to all the churches in the Valley and for God to bring spiritual awakening to those without Jesus Christ.  Their burden to reach the Valley grew through materials including "Prayer Evangelism" by Ed Silvoso and "Transformation" videos by Harvest Evangelism.

The UPPEN network is currently more than 10 churches in the immediate network and many other churches throughout the region. UPPEN started as a prayer focus for transformation for the Upper Perk school district. Then other intercessors and churches began to network together in the 8 school districts that border Upper Perk. These include Brandywine Heights, Southern Lehigh, East Penn, Quakertown, Pennridge, Souderton, Perk Valley and Boyertown. UPPEN is currently connecting with more than 10 other networks between Harrisburg and Philadelphia. UPPEN's "greater field" is praying for three cities that create a triangle; Reading, Allentown and Philadelphia. UPPEN is near the center of that triangle. UPPEN is looking to see where God is at work in those three cities and the greater region in between those three cities. UPPEN is now partnering with "PrayForNewark" in Newark, N.J..
